Artmedia Bratislava are prepared to allow defender Pavol Farkas to join Hearts at the end of the season.
Farkas has been lined up as a replacement for Christophe Berra, who completed a move to Wolves before the close of the transfer window.
Reports had claimed Farkas was due to move to Hearts on deadline day, but a deal could now be completed for the Slovakia international in the summer.
"From our side, it was decided to let Pavol go," said Artmedia's contracts chief Bruno Simunic in the Daily Record.
"There seems to have been some sort of misunderstanding, but there is still the option for Pavol to go to Scotland in the summer.
"We will not stand in his way."
Meanwhile, Hearts midfielder Bruno Aguiar is keen to discuss an extension to his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
Aguiar's agent Paolo Barbosa said: "Nothing has happened yet, but I hope we can reach an agreement soon. Bruno enjoys playing in Scotland and likes Edinburgh.
"This is an important contract for him, but no one else has approached me because I won't do anything until we have spoken to Hearts."
