Jon Daly has put pen-to-paper on a contract extension which keeps him at Dundee United until 2012.
The striker moved to Tannadice in January 2007 and was initially troubled by injuries, but he has stayed fit this season and scored eight goals.
Craig Levein has now moved to secure Daly's long-term future and he is thrilled to have kept the 25-year-old.
"Jon is the type of player all clubs need," Levein told the club's official website.
"He provides a big strong physical presence up front, and as a target man to play in others, but also provides a definite goal threat.
"Jon is an important player for Dundee United, with his best yet to come and I am therefore delighted to tie him up for a further three years."
Daly is also pleased to be staying with the club and hopes to help United improve over the coming years.
"I'm delighted to have my immediate future secured and that it is with Dundee United," he said.
"I'm happy to remain with a club that has helped me through a difficult time and a club which, I feel, has an exciting future."
