Former Wigan winger Lee McCulloch could become a successful central defender at Rangers.
That is the assessment of assistant manager Ally McCoist after McCulloch continued his possible conversion in Rangers' reserve side.
"Lee is coming on and playing centre-back and he is really enjoying it," said McCoist.
"Playing that position is different for Lee obviously, but he scored one goal and could have had another couple.
"He is an obvious menace from set-pieces and he can spot and make a pass from out of the back. He looked very comfortable."
McCulloch played his third game as a defender against St Mirren's second string and McCoist believes it was his best to date as Rangers won 3-0.
"There is no doubt that having Christian Dailly, who is an international centre-back, alongside him would have been a help but Lee did well," McCoist told the Glasgow Evening Times.
