Celtic have been rocked by the news that Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is set to miss a crucial phase of the season.
The Holland international is still suffering with the groin injury he sustained during the opening exchanges of an SPL encounter with Hamilton on 4th October.
As a result, the towering striker is now set to miss crunch games both at home and abroad.
The problem will keep him out of Saturday's trip to Inverness, preventing him from helping the Hoops extend their lead at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, he looks certain to miss Tuesday's eagerly-anticipated UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
When probed about the player's fitness, Gordon Strachan confirmed: "He will not be ready for a while yet."
The Celtic boss is also waiting on the return of Georgios Samaras, Shunsuke Nakamura, Scott McDonald. Artur Boruc and Aiden McGeady from international duty, but is confident the quintet will arrive back in Glasgow unscathed.
"Sammy, Naka, Scott and Artur are not back yet," he added.
"But I've had no calls saying anything untoward has happened to them - they seem to be okay.
"The Scottish guys have come back and been fantastic. This week's training has been terrific."
