Kilmarnock defender Frazer Wright admits he regrets slapping Shunsuke Nakamura - but believes the incident was blown out of proportion.

Wright came in for heavy criticism after he appeared to hit out at the Celtic midfielder during his side's 3-1 defeat at Rugby Park last month.

Wright reacted after Nakamura had been awarded a dubious penalty and he insists he will clear the air with the Japanese star when Killie take on Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance Cup later this month.

"I think it was blown out of proportion a wee bit but I know I shouldn't have done what I did," said Wright.

"I was out-paced by [Georgios] Samaras for the second goal and then to lose a penalty the way we did, my emotions just got the better of me.

"I've not spoken to him about it but I'm sure I'll be able to do that when we play Celtic in the cup in a few weeks.

"Hopefully it will be forgotten about but you know what fans are like, they will probably bring it up. I'm not going to do it again anyway!"
