Japan have risked incurring the wrath of SPL side Celtic by calling up Shunshuke Nakamura for two upcoming internationals.
The 30-year-old is wanted by national coach Takeshi Okada for a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on 9th October and a World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan on 15th October.
The clash with Uzbekistan is likely to rile Gordon Strachan the most, as it comes just six days before the Hoops face Manchester United in a crunch UEFA Champions League clash at Old Trafford.
Nakamura has struggled in recent seasons to cope with the long-haul travelling involved in representing his country and has openly admitted he is seeking a return to his homeland.
It appears unlikely Celtic will allow him to leave before the end of the current season, but a switch to J-League side Yokohama F-Marinos has been touted.
The talented playmaker will be joined in the Japan squad next month by fellow European-based stars Junichi Inamoto of Eintracht Frankfurt and Makoto Hasebe of Wolfsburg.
