Hearts defender Robbie Neilson faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing ankle surgery.
Neilson has been struggling with the ankle problem for some time and he has yet to feature this season.
The Scotland international returned to training last week by taking a pain-killing injection, but the full-back has been unable to shake off the problem and the club have decided to send him under the knife.
Neilson is hoping the surgery will resolve the ankle problem so that he can get back to playing.
Frustrating"We hoped the injection would do the trick but the ankle was still causing me some pain and it was decided an operation was required," Neilson told the Daily Record.
"It's been frustrating but I'm hoping this will be the end of it and things improve from now on."
Better news on the injury front for Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo is that Portuguese ace Bruno Aguiar is close to finally returning to fitness.
Aguiar has been on the sidelines since last April with an ankle problem, but he is expected to return to training later this week.
"I hope Bruno will train with the team this week," said Laszlo. "He's an important player and a big player for the supporters, so when he is ready he can help the team."
