American midfielder on his way to Scotland

Rangers have finalised a deal for exciting United States international Maurice Edu. The move is subject to a work permit being granted, but the 22-year-old is expected to pen a five-year deal at Ibrox. The Gers have agreed a $5million (£2.68m) fee with the MLS for the midfielder who already has six international caps to his name. Edu was at Ibrox to see his new club triumph 2-0 over Hearts in Saturday, but has now headed back to America in order to prepare for a World Cup qualifier against Guatemala. The youngster was recommended to Walter Smith by former Rangers favourite Mo Johnston, who worked with Edu at Toronto FC. The Scottish giants must now wait for the formalities to be pushed through.
