McGhee ends interest in defender

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee has decided not to pursue his interest in Seyfo Soley. The Gambian centre-back has been on trial with the Scottish Premier League side in recent weeks and played in the 4-0 friendly victory over Bradford. Soley spent the 2006/07 season with Preston in the Championship and came highly recommended, but McGhee was not impressed by his attitude. However, McGhee is still hopeful of signing winger Jim O'Brien from Celtic. "The centre-half we had on trial was just a bit too laid back," McGhee told the Evening Times. "He didn't seem interested in getting up to our pace in training. "We are still interested in the midfielder and hope to hear Celtic's response to our offer for O'Brien soon."
