Paatelainen advises players to consider their futures
Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen feels his squad should be trimmed of 'eight or nine players'.
Paatelainen, who recently refuted speculation that he was considering quitting Hibs, is keen to streamline his side ahead of the new season.
Midfielder Brian Kerr, defender Thierry Gathuessi and goalkeeper Zbigniew Malkowski are reportedly among those that could leave Easter Road this summer, and Paatelainen has advised a number of his players to consider their futures at the club.
"Our squad is too big and we should get rid of eight or nine players," Paatelainen said in the
Daily Record.
Look elsewhere
"I have spoken to those guys, not recently, but before the holidays because I felt it was only fair to let them know they should look to play their football elsewhere.
"These players have not moved on and that makes our job more difficult.
"It is important players realise it is their careers we are talking about. If they sit at Hibs for another year or two their careers might be finished.
"They could end up going part-time or away from the pro scene all together. So those players should look to themselves because they will not play here."
