Dundee United have completed the capture of left-back Paul Dixon from local rivals Dundee.
The Terrors agreed a compensation package for the defender last week leaving them free to hold talks with the 21-year-old.
The Scotland Under-21 international has now penned a three-year deal at Tannadice, much to the delight of United boss Craig Levein.
With Christian Kalvenes returning to his native Norway, the former Leicester City boss was keen to give Danny Grainger competition for the left-back spot.
"I believe in having strong competition and cover for all first-team places and needed another left-back after Christian Kalvenes finally decided to return home," Levein told the club's official website.
"I'm delighted to sign Paul who will provide competition to Danny Grainger in this position and we'll again have two very good players challenging for a first-team place.
"Paul is another player I've known about for a long time and I've always felt he had good potential.
"His progress probably stalled a bit last season. Now he is getting the chance to get things back on track and fulfil his potential to be an excellent defender."
