Defender puts pen-to-paper at Layer Road

Matt Lockwood has completed his transfer to Colchester from Nottingham Forest. The 31-year-old defender has been holding discussions with Colchester manager Geraint Williams over the past fortnight and has now agreed to a move. Colchester had finalised a deal for Lockwood - who only moved to the City Ground from Leyton Orient last summer - two weeks ago. And now the left-back has secured personal terms and becomes Williams' second defensive signing of the close-season following the permanent arrival of Matt Heath from Leeds. Lockwood, who almost joined Colchester in the January transfer window, made just 12 appearances for Forest as he failed to oust Julian Bennett.
