Kilmarnock defender Tim Clancy will miss the start of next season through injury.

Clancy suffered ruptured ankle ligaments in last weekend's draw with Gretna and he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Killie boss Jim Jefferies confirmed Clancy will miss the start of next season as he requires a minor operation on the injury.

"We thought it was a break at first but Tim still has to see a specialist and may need a minor operation," Jefferies told the Daily Record.

"He's definitely going to miss pre-season and the start of the new campaign.

"It's a big blow as Tim has got to grips with the SPL and would have been pushing for a regular starting place.

"It's was an innocuous challenge, so it was just bad luck on Tim's part. But we've had more than our share of bad luck this season."
