Weir worry for Rangers

David Weir is rated a major doubt for Rangers' second leg tie against Fiorentina in the Uefa Cup.

Davis also a doubt for Thursday's Uefa Cup tie with Fiorentina

David Weir is rated a major doubt for Rangers' second leg tie against Fiorentina in the Uefa Cup on Thursday. The veteran defender picked up a groin injury during Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Old Firm rivals Celtic in the SPL. Weir, who drew Gers level in the first half, was replaced early in the second period after suffering the injury. He has undergone a scan on the problem and Rangers are anxiously awaiting the results to learn the severity of the injury. However, the club have confirmed that Weir is facing a battle to be fit for the trip to Italy later in the week. Midfielder Steven Davis is also a concern for the match after hurting his groin in the defeat to Celtic. The injury is not as bad as first feared, but the Northern Ireland international is still a worry for the tie with Fiorentina. Rangers will be hoping both players are fit for the game, with the tie finely balanced after last week's 0-0 draw at Ibrox.
