Ankle op for Kille star

Kilmarnock defender Frazer Wright has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

Wright has been struggling with an ankle problem for some time and the club have decided to send him for surgery to correct the problem.

The 28-year-old admitted he had been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks after revealing the full extent of the injury.

"I have three wee bits of bone that have come away in my ankle, one at the front and two at the side. The one at the front was causing a lot of swelling," Wright told the Daily Record

"I'm going for a scan to see if I'll need keyhole surgery or whether they will need to cut me open to remove them.

"I could touch and move the big bit of loose bone at the front but it seems to have vanished. It must have moved round the ankle so they need to sort that. It has been uncomfortable playing with them floating around the joint.

"When it swelled up it was not too bad but when the swelling died down that's when I would get the pain.

"I would take painkillers to get through games but it was sore when I landed after jumping for headers.

"It was fine when I ran in a straight line but if I had to twist or turn then I'd get the pain."
