Rangers defender Steven Whittaker says he does not want to be compared to Alan Hutton after taking up his right-back role.
Whittaker took over from Hutton at right-back for Rangers' CIS Cup semi-final win over Hearts on Wednesday following his former team-mate's move to Tottenham.
Former Hibernian ace Whittaker looks set to be the ideal replacement for Hutton, but the 22-year-old does not want to draw comparisons.
No pressure
"I slotted in there against Hearts and hopefully I can now keep my place in the team," Whittaker told the Daily Record."Whether it is on the left or the right I don't mind. If I'm in the team I just try to play my best.
"I don't feel under any pressure. I'm not here to be compared with Alan Hutton. I'm a different player so if I'm picked for the team I'll do my best.
"Right-back was my position at Hibs and I'm capable of filling that role. That's why some people point out that I'm a ready made replacement."
