Sampdoria striker shuns Gers for Brescia

Rangers have missed out on Andrea Caracciolo after he joined Brescia on transfer deadline day. The Gers had looked to grab the 26-year-old international - but he has instead opted to join Brescia for the third time in his career. Serie B Brescia announced on their website that they had landed Caracciolo and it is a major coup for the Rondinelle. It is believed Brescia have paid Sampdoria £5million plus co-ownership rights of Mattia Mustacchio. Rangers chief executive Martin Bain told the club's official website: "Discussions were held today in Milan with the player, Andrea Caracciolo, however, he has chosen to sign for Brescia. "The player was co-owned by Palermo and Sampdoria. Discussions proved to be difficult and the player decided to remain in Italy to play his football."
