St Mirren goalkeeper Chris Smith has signed a new deal at the club.

The Scotland Under 21 international has inked a new three-and-a-half-year contract to keep him at Love Street until the end of the 2010/2011 campaign.

Buddies boss Gus MacPherson was delighted to tie down the custodian to a new deal as his existing contract was due to expire in the summer.

"Chris has signed an extension and we're delighted. He's done extremely well since he's come into the team and this season was a big year for him," said MacPherson.

"The deal was done within 24 hours. He spoke to people close to him and he came back and was delighted to sign it.

"We just felt it was time to reward Chris for his performances."
