St Mirren fail in bid for midfielder

Craig Brewster is hoping to keep St Mirren target John Rankin at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Rankin is looking to leave Inverness and was the subject of a failed £45,000 bid from St Mirren earlier in the week. The former Manchester United youngster joined Caley Thistle from Ross County in 2006 and feels it is time for a change. But Inverness boss Brewster is keen to hang on to the midfielder after Rankin reclaimed his place in the team. "We spoke a couple of months back and John said he'd like to move on," Brewster told the Daily Record. "He just felt his time at the club had come to an end, but I asked him to remain patient. "Now he's come into the team and done a great job, so I'm keen to keep him here. However, if he was to move on we would rightly be looking for a significant fee."
