Boss looking to keep Pole at Tannadice

An injury crisis means that Craig Levein must try and persuade goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski to remain at Dundee United past the end of the month. The Polish international's current deal expires at the end of December but Levein is hopeful of persuading him to extend his stay. Lukasz Zaluska arrived at the club in the summer and was expected to be first choice but he broke his foot in pre-season and has not featured since. With Zaluska therefore still some way off making a first-team return Levein would be left with just Euan McLean as his goalkeeping option if Szamotulski were to leave.

Discussions

The Pole has been a resounding success since arriving at Tannadice, attracting interest from both sides of the border, and Levein is doing everything he can to resolve the issue. "We are in discussions with Szamotulski just now about whether he will stay on a little bit longer, because we are in a position where Lukasz isn't going to be fit for another four to six weeks," said the former Leicester City boss.
