Fresh talks over new deal for vice-captain

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is hoping vice-captain Michael Hart will soon be signing a new contract with the club. Hart is out-of-contract at the end of the season and talks over a new deal stalled in pre-season, However, Calderwood hopes that new talks with director of football Willie Miller will go well this week.

Hopeful

"Willie is going back to Michael with another offer," said Calderwood. "I have a meeting with Willie scheduled for Friday and we will, hopefully, be able to move forward." Hart is one of ten players out-of-contract at Pittodrie this summer and Calderwood admits he does fear that the finances may not be in place to keep the players he wants. "There is always going to be a problem financially but we have to think we have a chance of keeping them," said Calderwood. "A lot depends on the results. If we do well in the Scottish Cup and League Cup or go further in Europe it would help the finances. If we get through the Dnipro tie then all of our problems could be solved, so the important games coming up have to be our main focus."
