McGhee steps up keeper search

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee is stepping up his search for keeper reinforcements.

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee is stepping up his search for keeper reinforcements following Colin Meldrum's decision to move into coaching.

Meldrum has informed McGhee he is no longer interested in battling it out for a first-team place and wants to concentrate on his duties off the field.

McGhee has confirmed he is on the lookout for signings in the not-too-distant future, with a new keeper at the top of his shopping list.

"I'm still trying to get one or two people in," McGhee explained. "I'd like them in as soon as possible.

"The urgency to get another goalkeeper is greater now because Colin has declared he feels now is the time he has to go into coaching."

Meanwhile, McGhee has reiterated his desire to speak to Celtic's Adam Virgo with a view to bringing him to Fir Park.

"I want to speak to Adam and see how he feels because if he's going to come here, he has to be committed," he continued.
