Andrea Capone has been given an extra week to earn a contract with Celtic.

The Italian midfielder featured in last week's friendlies with Peterborough United and Queens Park Rangers, and scored at Loftus Road.

Celtic have since headed out to the United States for a game against an MLS All Stars team in Denver on Thursday, and a match in Chicago on Sunday.

Capone has now linked up with the Scottish champions and Gordon Strachan is keen to have an extended look at the player.

Strachan also feels the presence of fellow Italian, Massimo Donati, could help Capone clinch a deal with The Bhoys.

"Two fellow countrymen certainly helped Artur Boruc settle down when he came to us to team up with Maciej Zurawski," Strachan told the Daily Record.

"Andy will be a week fitter by the time our visit to Denver and Chicago is over and done, and what I need to find out over the next seven days is whether he's better than what I already have at my disposal."
