Ling delighted with Jarvis

Torquay boss Martin Ling has praised Ryan Jarvis' Johnstone's Paint Trophy display, where they lost to Yeovil on penalties.

The former Leyton Orient striker scored twice in the penalty shootout defeat in only his second start of the season. But with three goals from his last three games, the Gulls manager is confident Jarvis is capable of playing an important role in his side. The Plainmoor boss told the club's official website: "I know Ryan can do the job and he took both goals well. The first one was easier but the second was a very good finish. "He's had to be patient and not had many starts. It will give him plenty of confidence and he's looked sharper in training recently as well. "Ryan is one of those players that takes a bit of criticism from the crowd and on Tuesday night they cheered him off the pitch. That is the life of being a footballer."
