Nicholson hails youngsters

Veteran full-back Kevin Nicholson has paid tribute to the way some younger players have established themselves at Torquay.

Nicholson has featured more than 200 times for the Gulls since joining from Forest Green in the summer of 2007, and is now amongst the older generation at Plainmoor. And he has been impressed by the way the likes of Billy Bodin, Eunan O'Kane and Damon Lathrope have all made a big impact in League Two. "Billy, Eunan and Damon have stepped up to the mark," the 31-year-old said. "Eunan had pretty much a full season last season so maybe it's not quite the same for him, but Damon has come in and really made the position his own and Billy is new to the club and had not played much first-team football before. "Joe Oastler has gone from being second-choice central midfielder to first-choice left-back and he's doing really well. "All of these players are 21 or 22 and they're playing regularly in the league and showing they are good enough and maybe one day they'll get their big move."
