Stanley appeal Proctor red

Accrington have launched an appeal against striker Andy Proctor's red card in the FA Cup defeat at Notts County.

Proctor received his marching orders from referee Gavin Ward following a second-half professional foul on Karl Hawley, who bagged a brace in the Magpies' 4-1 triumph. The Football Association are expected to announce the outcome of the appeal before the end of the week. After the match, Stanley defender Tom Bender claimed Hawley himself suggested the red card was harsh. The 18-year-old told Accrington's official website: "I think Hawley has actually come out and said himself that it was him who gave Proccy the nudge, so it was a dubious red card to give."
