Full-back on his way back from an ankle injury

Dale Tonge is optimistic he is close to a first-team comeback after missing Rotherham United's last seven games due to an ankle injury. The full-back has been ruled out since mid-November and last featured for the Millers in their 2-1 victory at Port Vale. But the 24-year-old is now closing in on a return for Ronnie Moore's side, who have seen their last four league games postponed. Tonge told the club's official website: "It's been hard to train with us being on the astroturf, but I've had some good sessions and feel fit as a fiddle." Meanwhile, Rotherham manager Moore has admitted the cancellation of his side's fixtures over the Christmas period has proved frustrating. The Millers last played on 12th December, when they beat Bradford 4-2 at Valley Parade, before seeing their matches against Dagenham, Darlington and Chesterfield all postponed. United's crunch clash against table-toppers Rochdale was also called off on Saturday, leaving Moore to rue the lack of action his players had faced over what is traditionally a busy time on the footballing calendar. He joked: "It's been great, undefeated over Christmas - there's been no problems! It's so frustrating it's untrue to be honest, especially the Chesterfield game. We were so close, we were on the bus ready to go. "The referee called it off which is disappointing because there would have been a good crowd, a great atmosphere and it leaves us just a little bit rusty at the moment."
