Chesterfield fear midfielder Jamie Lowry could be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 22-year-old, who came through the youth system at Saltergate, ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament in training last week and is scheduled to see a specialist to confirm the extent of the problem.
Manager John Sheridan said: "We are all very disappointed for Jamie as he was having such a good season, but he will recover and come back stronger than ever."
Lowry has been in excellent form for Chesterfield this season, weighing in with six goals as the club look to secure promotion from League Two.
Defender Aaron Downes is still recovering from a similar injury he sustained in April.
But he is set to return to full training next month following an operation and a long rehabilitation period.
