Relegated Macclesfield Town have appointed Jon Harris as their new chief executive.

The Silkmen have been making drastic changes on and off the pitch as they prepare for a return to non-league football next season. A total of 16 players were released following the club's relegation from League Two and there have been boardroom changes since the arrival of Steve King as manager. Harris, who joined the club in October, said: "I first joined to take on some of the roles that Mike Rance (chairman) had been performing to allow him to step back a little last year. "From here on, I'll be overseeing the running of the football club and acting as a liaison with the owners. This will entail working with Steve King, although the football administration side of things will remain unchanged, as well as managing all of the other departments that keep the club running. "This is a period of change for the Silkmen both on and off the field, and I hope I will be able to help steer the club into the next era, which we all hope will include promotion back into the Football League."
