Matt finish no consolation

Matthew Hamshaw says his goalscoring form won't matter unless Macclesfield get back to winning ways in League Two.

The 29-year-old midfielder scored his second goal in three matches on Friday night, but could not prevent the Silkmen slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Barnet. "My goal kind of becomes irrelevant if we lose and, although personally I'm looking to stay in the team, I'd rather not score as long as we win," he told the Manchester Evening News. "But I am getting a few now so I'll keep working hard in training and look to take my chances when I get them." Town have taken one point from their last four league games, and Hamshaw is looking forward to the welcome distraction of Saturday's FA Cup clash with non-league Chelmsford. "It's always nice to get away from the pressures of league football and we want to go as far as we can in the competition," he added.
