Simpson: We deserved to win

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson felt his side did enough to claim all three points after the stalemate with Bristol Rovers.

The Silkmen hit four goals past Hereford in midweek but they were unable to find their way through a stubborn Rovers defence. "I would have taken a point before the game because they have brought a lot of good players to their club, but in the end I thought we shaded it and deserved more," said Simpson. "We kept the ball, passed it and opened them up. The only thing missing was a goal. "My squad is coming together now. I've got Waide Fairhurst, Paul Morgan and Colin Daniel to come back soon and things are looking bright. "We've got to get this young team playing with confidence."
