Striker joins until end of the year

Macclesfield Town have signed Leicester forward Ricky Sappleton on loan until the end of December. The 19-year-old striker, who played and scored in Macclesfield reserves' 3-1 midweek win against Sheffield Wednesday, began his career at QPR before joining Leicester in the summer of 2007. Last season he found playing time limited at the Walkers Stadium and was forced out on loan to Bournemouth, Oxford and AFC Telford. But Sappleton, who is expected to go into Keith Alexander's squad for the home clash against Rotherham on Saturday, is delighted to be given the chance to prove himself. "I'm pleased to be here and I'm looking forward to playing games and hopefully getting some goals," he told the club's official website. "I enjoyed the reserve game in the week and I think I did ok. I scored one goal and thought I could have had more. "But the more I play I'll get sharper and be able to take the chances when they come along."
