Macclesfield will have to continue their battle against relegation without Alan Navarro for the next month.
The midfielder has been playing in pain for a number of weeks and the club have decided the time is right to send him for surgery.
The club have forecasted it will take Navarro a month to overcome the effects of the hernia operation.
Macclesfield boss Paul Ince is hopeful of having the 25-year-old back in contention before the end of the season.
"We've got a game on Friday and then we have a two-week break, so he should be nice and fresh for the last few games of the season," said Ince.
