Silkmen narrow search

Macclesfield boss Brian Horton is narrowing down his search for new players.

With Macclesfield Town's season opener with Darlington less than three weeks away, manager Brian Horton is looking to narrow down his search for new recruits.

Horton revealed that the side which started the pre-season tie with Leicester City on Tuesday evening was his first choice XI, barring his goalkeeper, and said he was now looking to make the final adjustments to his squad.

Two trialists made an appearance during the game with Leicester, but Horton stated that he will only invite one to stay with his side for the tie against Southport on Saturday.

"The left-back, Jimmy McNulty did well against Leicester and I will look at him again over the next couple of games," said Horton.

"I'm not keeping Jay Denny though, who was with Shrewsbury last year. He got 45 minutes but I'm looking elsewhere now."

The Silkmen boss said that he is targeting one final addition to his squad with a new midfielder his priority.
