STEVE BANKS has rejected the chance to join Macclesfield Town in preference to a move to a First Division side.

The former Bolton keeper impressed in Scandinavia on the club's pre-season trip to Norway, but opted against joining The Silkmen.

However, Banks has now accepted an offer from an unnamed First Division side and will not be moving to Moss Rose.

Meanwhile, Jamie Milligan, who also toured Norway with Banks, is set to sign a deal with the club Monday.

The former Blackpool winger is expected to put pen-to-paper on a non-contract basis with the possibility of making the switch permanent.
