No complaints from Coleman

John Coleman was a frustrated man after seeing Accrington's four-game unbeaten run come to an end as they lost 1-0 to Carlisle.

Coleman admitted: "I'm disappointed, but Carlisle deserved to win. No-one can argue with that. They were the better side in every department. "Apart from a chance at the end we didn't create enough opportunities. Carlisle were up for the game and we weren't. They outfought us and I've no complaints about the result." Coleman said: "Maybe the Carlisle goal was offside, but I don't subscribe to that. We should defend it." The only goal came midway through the first half when Carlisle's pacy striker Derek Asamoah sprang the offside trap, racing on to Billy Paynter's through ball and coolly sliding his shot past goalkeeper Jack Rose from just inside the penalty area. Coleman admitted: "Asamoah had a massive effect on the game. He was a threat every time he got the ball. "Carlisle came out for the game bullish and backed it up with the performance. We didn't really show up and it's frustrating. "The only thing we can do is work hard. Obviously what we decided to do did not work and we will have to look at our methods and maybe the selection as well. "We have a propensity to wait for the ideal opportunity to shoot and then we have ridiculous shots over the bar." Carlisle had numerous chances to make the game safe long before a nervy final spell. Stanley keeper Jack Rose produced two fine saves to deny Steven Rigg and Kyle Dempsey while Danny Kearns also went close in the second half. Typical of Stanley's afternoon was a free-kick just outside the area which substitute Lee Molyneux wastefully blasted high over the bar. Carlisle manager Keith Curle was pleased with the way his side erased the memory of their FA Cup defeat at Peterborough the week before. He said: "Without being disrespectful to Accrington we could have won more comfortably. We had a number of chances to score but only took one of them. "It was the right result, but it was a difficult game against a good team who played to their strengths and had a good game plan. "We could have gone in at half time 2-0 up, but there are lots of good things to take from a 1-0 win. "The players are developing a good understanding and belief in their roles and responsibilities and everyone knows what to do within the team framework. We just need to work on exploiting the final third of the pitch."
