Accrington boss James Beattie was not too hard on his team after losing 3-2 at home to Exeter.
Beattie watched Stanley slip to a second successive loss after eight games without a league defeat. The Grecians raced into a 3-0 lead inside 24 minutes through Tom Nichols' double and another goal from Alan Gow. But Beattie's boys got back in the game with efforts from Peter Murphy and Kal Naismith either side of half-time to put the pressure on Exeter, who then saw Gow miss a 55th-minute penalty. "We need to start again and learn from the mistakes we made," said Beattie. "Defenders Dean Winnard and Tom Aldred have been magnificent for eight weeks and they can't be judged on an indifferent 25 minutes. "Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has also been superb and he held his hands up and took responsibility for the third goal. "We cannot dwell on it but we have to address what we did wrong and make sure we don't make the same mistakes again. "Christmas is a massive period and we have got to remain upbeat even though we are disappointed at this moment.".
