Molyneux hails 'important' goal

Accrington winger Lee Molyneux has described his goal against Bristol Rovers as "the most important" of his career.

His second-minute free-kick was the only goal of the game as Leam Richardson's side secured their League Two survival. Molyneux's 30-yard effort was his ninth goal of the season but the meaning of the goal meant it was his favourite. He told the club's official website: "It's definitely the most important goal I've scored. "I've only started scoring this year and I guess I've scored a few all right goals. I work hard on my free-kicks and striking of the ball after training and thankfully this one went into the back of the net. "I looked and it did seem far but they are the kind of distances that I do try and hit them from. I looked over and the gaffer gave me a hand gesture to say 'have a go' and we were only 90 seconds into the game so it was worth a go. "We were all well up for the game so I thought I'd have a go. I put my head down, trusted my technique and it went in. "We didn't necessarily need the best performance. It was all about the result and keeping Accy in the league."
