Evans eyes two more signings

Rotherham manager Steve Evans hopes to complete two more signings before Saturday's League Two opener against Burton.

Evans, waiting to learn the full extent of the ankle injury sustained by full-back Laurie Wilson in Saturday's Capital One Cup defeat at Hull, is in talks to bring in a striker and a defender. "I'd like to add another striker and left-sided defender and even allowing for Willo taking a knock, that's still the situation," Evans told the club's official website. "We're in discussions with one club about a transfer fee, which would obviously bring in a striker on a permanent basis and we're also discussing another player, who would be a six-month or season-long loan signing, so let's see where all that goes in the next few days." Evans has already drafted in Daniel Nardiello, Kayode Odejayi, Ian Sharps, Nicky Hunt, Kari Arnason, Scott Shearer, Michael O'Connor, Lionel Ainsworth, Lawrie Wilson, David Noble and Kieran Agard during the close season. Evans added he missed out to Sheffield United in his bid to land Blackburn striker Nick Blackman, who signed a two-year deal with the Blades on Friday.
