Mark Yates: Eyeing summit of League Two table with a positive result at Macclesfield

Cheltenham have the chance to go clear at the top of League Two on Saturday, while rock bottom Northampton travel to in-form Torquay.

With top two Southend and Crawley not in league action, third-placed Cheltenham, who are level on 52 points with the pair, can go to the head of the table with a positive result at Macclesfield.

Mark Yates' Robins go into the clash on the back of a 2-0 home reverse to Bristol Rovers, but will still fancy their chances against a Silkmen side who have lost their last four, the latest a 2-1 reverse at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Fifth-placed Shrewsbury can climb into fourth - just a point behind the automatic places - with a win at Hereford, who will be seeking to build on a two-match unbeaten run.

In-form Torquay have won four on the bounce to sit sixth in the table and the Gulls will fancy their chances against bottom side Northampton, who have lost their last two, the latest a 2-1 home reverse to Barnet.

With seventh-placed Oxford not playing until Sunday, eighth-placed Gillingham and tenth-placed Accrington could temporarily climb into the play-offs with a victory at the Crown Ground.

Tough call

But it will be tough to call, with Stanley taking just a point from their last two games - a goalless draw at Aldershot last time out - while the Gills have lost their last two matches.

Eleventh-placed Crewe travel to Barnet in a clash of in-form sides, with both clubs winning their last three games.

Port Vale halted a four-match losing run at Rotherham and next up is a clash with Plymouth, who drew against Crawley to climb out of the drop zone.

Dagenham & Redbridge have lost three on the bounce to fall to second bottom but John Still's charges face a Rotherham side who are also out-of-form, having lost their last two games.

Bradford could leapfrog Bristol Rovers with a win at the Memorial Ground, while AFC Wimbledon host Aldershot in the last League Two clash on Saturday.

On Sunday, ninth-placed Burton Albion take on seventh-placed Oxford United aiming to halt a five game winless run.
