Gulls make Aldred signing

League Two outfit Torquay have signed former Watford defender Tom Aldred on a loan deal from Colchester until January 2.

Gulls manager Martin Ling moved for the centre-back following the news Brian Saah faces between four and six weeks on the sidelines with a torn groin. Aldred could make his debut when Torquay make the trip to Port Vale in League Two on Friday night. Ling was delighted with his latest acquisition, telling the club's official website: "He is a tall lad. Watford saw massive potential in him but it didn't really take off for him there. "I watched him play for Watford reserves three times last year when I was scouting for Walsall and he really impressed me. "He will go straight into the squad for the Port Vale game and we also have a clearance for him in the FA Cup."
