Striker returns to training after 12 months out with knee injury

Portsmouth striker Danny Webber is hoping he will be able to make a first-team return before the end of the season. Webber is stepping up his recovery after 12 months on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury and is now back in training. The 29-year-old is happy to be involved at Fratton Park again and is keen to feature for Steve Cotterill's side before the campaign is over. "It's a big relief getting out there on a pitch again," said Webber. "I hadn't played football for nearly 12 months, so I loved every minute. "Even so I'm still trying to step it up slowly as my main concern through the whole process has been taking each day as it comes, making sure I was okay to return. "It was always important to be back when I felt right, and I do now. I was never looking to cut any corners, because it was a big injury. But now I'm simply aiming to stay fit. "Any minutes I get on the pitch in a competitive game between now and the end of the season will be tremendous."
