Adkins keen to bring in a new striker

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed his interest in signing Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi. Adkins is looking to beef up his attacking options after losing Ben May to injury and has been knocked back in a bid for Doncaster Rovers' Gareth Taylor. He is now hoping to agree a deal for Odejayi, but is expecting to face competition in his quest to add the Barnsley front man to his squad. "It has been well documented that I have tried to bring Kayode Odejayi in on loan, obviously with Ben May injured," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "But who knows what is going to happen with that one. He is still at Barnsley, but I suspect another club, potentially, might go and take him. "He fits that bill as a big target man, so I'm sure there are a lot of clubs who are showing an interest in him. "Gareth Taylor won't happen. I spoke to Sean O'Driscoll, I speak to him quite a lot, as I speak to a lot of managers."
