Defender returns for a second stint at Blundell Park
Barnsley defender Rob Atkinson has returned to Grimsby Town for a second loan spell.
Atkinson spent a large chunk of last season on loan at Blundell Park and made 29 appearances for the Mariners.
He was wanted on a permanent basis by Grimsby in the summer, but stayed at Oakwell, where he has yet to make a first-team appearance this term.
The 21-year-old centre-half has now agreed to rejoin the League Two club, now managed by Mike Newell, on a deal until January.
Atkinson could make his Grimsby debut in Saturday's game against Darlington, alongside fellow new signing Jean-Paul Kalala, who arrived from Oldham Athletic on Thursday.
