The two parties agreed on the short-term deal on Thursday afternoon, and The Racecourse Ground boss says the deal will allow him to assess the Frenchman to decipher whether or not to retain his services for longer with Chris Armstrong still some way off full fitness.
Smith told the club's official website: "We have had discussions and both sides have agreed that he will sign a one-month contract.
"This will give us the chance to take a longer look at Armand, while it's also an ideal opportunity for him to see if he likes us.
"With Chris Armstrong struggling to get fit in the near future, Armand can offer us something different."
