EXPERIENCED striker Chris Armstrong has completed the formalities of his free transfer switch to Wrexham.

Armstrong has returned to his first professional club after being released by Premiership outfit Bolton Wanderers earlier in the summer.

The 32-year-old's arrival at The Racecourse Ground is something of a coup for the Welsh club, with manager Denis Smith beaming at his capture.

The former Tottenham and Crystal Palace ace has inked a two-year contract with the Second Division newcomers and is delighted to have returned to his old stamping ground.

Armstrong is confident he has made the right decision and believes there is the potential for success with The Dragons.

"It's good to be back but I wouldn't be here if I didn't think we could be successful," said Armstrong.

The injury-plagued hit-man successfully passed a medical at the club and links up with fellow new signing Chris Llewellyn for pre-season training.
