CHRIS ARMSTRONG is set to sign for Wrexham next week after agreeing a deal to return to the Racecourse Ground.

The former Tottenham striker has been looking for a new club after being released by Bolton at the end of last season.

Armstrong started his career at Wrexham and he is willing to make the drop to the Second Division.

Dragons boss Denis Smith was elated to have landed the 32-year-old having signed former Norwich striker Chris Llewellyn earlier in the week.

"If you'd told me last May that we would be in a position to sign Chris Llewellyn and Chris Armstrong I'd have put you in a straightjacket," Smith told the club's official website.

"As a defender it will be frightening to see those two coming at you."
