Flitcroft eyes loan signings

Bury manager David Flitcroft has conceded he will use the opening of the loan window to scour the market for another defender.

Football League clubs are allowed to bring in reinforcements on loan again this week and while the Shakers are not expected to be particularly busy, Flitcroft admits he would like defensive cover. Captain Jim McNulty was suspended for the weekend draw at Wycombe while Keil O'Brien missed out with an injury, meaning Bury only named six substitutes. Pablo Mills played in the heart of the defence despite also carrying a knock and full-back Craig Jones was only just returning from a back problem. "I might look at bringing a defender in to cover Keil," explained Flitcroft. "We had a slight injury to Pabs so Pabs has done brilliantly just to perform and I thought he was fantastic. It's a place where we might need a bit of cover." Should Flitcroft find frustration in his endeavours, though, he may consider recalling full-back Joe Widdowson from his loan stint with Morecambe. "I've got Widds out so he will be back in contention because he has a 24-hour recall clause," the Bury boss added. "We're going to be all right because we've got the numbers but we might just to have to dip back in for one more."
