Flitcroft lauds departing Jensen

Bury boss David Flitcroft was full of praise for veteran keeper Brian Jensen in his final appearance, despite releasing him in midweek.

The former Burnley keeper was the Shakers' star man in the 0-0 draw with Morecambe after he pulled off a number of fine saves to earn his side a point. Jensen was this week told he would not be offered a new deal at the JD Stadium, and Flitcroft said: "It has been an emotional week, I must admit, and it was a tough decision to release Brian. "He had a great game and it was only right that he could say goodbye to the fans and sign off with such a good performance. "He is a great goalkeeper with two or three years at least left in him and I knew he would be professional right to the end. "It was a hard decision to release someone as good as him but I have a different style of keeper in mind for next season and that was behind the decision. "I decided to do things a bit differently and announce who I was releasing early and most of those didn't travel, but I couldn't do that with Brian and I wish him well." Jensen made superb saves from Andy Fleming and Kevin Ellison with Bury's only effort of note being a Danny Mayor shot that he lifted over the crossbar from close range.
