Bury boss David Flitcroft said his side were unlucky not to score five despite drawing 1-1 with Dagenham & Redbridge.
On-loan defender Chris Hussey had given the Shakers the lead on his full debut, but Flitcroft's side were pegged back by Luke Norris. Dagenham goalkeeper Chris Lewington made two crucial saves from Clive Platt, while Andy Procter hit the crossbar as Bury were denied victory. Flitcroft said: "I found out a bit more about my team. We had to play a certain way, with a tempo against a very good team, a potent team offensively. "Going forward there was force and fury but, again, we created chances and haven't really finished them off. "The keeper made a couple of very good saves, but to win football matches, you've got to score at important times. "At 2-0 they would've been dead and buried. "But we played with energy and purpose. On another day, I genuinely think we could've scored three, four or five goals. "It's fine lines we're dealing with. "We've stuck to a gameplan and a task. The boys showed an energy and a desire to win the football match and although we didn't do that, we didn't lose it. "There's going to be a lot more twists and turns this season, but we're genuinely focused on ourselves." The game was an open affair throughout, Bury midfielder Craig Jones and Daggers striker Medy Elito both wasting golden opportunities early on. Visiting goalkeeper Lewington rushed out to make a superb block from Platt at point-blank range to keep it scoreless at the break. On-loan Burton defender Hussey finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, receiving the reverse pass from Danny Mayor to finish at the near post. Lewington then made a stunning one-handed save from Platt before Norris levelled, beating a couple of challenges to curl home in the 67th minute.
